Apple Shifts 'Bug Wrangler' to AR Team to 'Bring Some Order' to AR Headset Development

Apple Shifts 'Bug Wrangler' to AR Team to 'Bring Some Order' to AR Headset Development
Apple has moved one of its software executives over to the division developing an augmented reality headset with the intent of bringing "some order" to the team, reports The Information.

Kim Vorrath, who has led program management on the software development team for over 15 years, has now moved over to the AR and virtual reality team, headed up by Mike Rockwell. Rockwell oversees close to a dozen people working on AR and VR software and hardware.

An Apple Glasses concept

According to The Information, Vorrath was a "powerful force" on the software team, making sure employees met deadlines while also testing software to find and fix bugs. She could bring some of that same expertise to the AR team as it works to develop software for the augmented reality headset that's rumored to be in the works.

Earlier this month, a report from DigiTimes suggested Apple had disbanded the team working on an augmented reality glasses project and had assigned them to other products, but it's not clear if that's accurate, especially given the new report from The Information about Vorrath's move.

Over the course of the last couple of years, multiple sources have said that Apple is working on augmented reality glasses. Bloomberg in 2017 said that the glasses could launch as early as 2020, though a source that spoke to The Information says it is unclear if the team will meet that deadline.

There are some mixed rumors about Apple's work on an AR/VR headset, suggesting multiple products are in the works and being tested. Bloomberg believes Apple is working on a headset that will use custom iOS-based "rOS" (reality operating system) software, and Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said Apple will market its smart glasses as an iPhone accessory.

CNET in April 2018 said that Apple is working on an augmented reality/virtual reality headset that features an 8K display for each eye and that is untethered from a computer or smartphone, connecting instead to a "dedicated box" over high-speed short-range WiGig technology. CNET said that it will support both augmented and virtual reality.

It's unclear what kind of project Apple will ultimately come out with given the various rumors we've heard, but it sounds like there still may be a headset or glasses in the works despite the rumors of the AR headset team being disbanded. If you lost data after you updated to a new iPhone, you can always use Gihosoft iPhone Data Recovery to get the data back from the old iPhone or backup. You may also like: iphonerecovery.com

Did you Jailbreak iOS 9.3.5?
WHAT IS PHOENIX JAILBREAK?

Phoenixpwn is a semi-untethered jailbreak tool for iOS 9.3.5 firmware. It is compatible with all 32-bit devices. Here are the names of developers who have worked on it.

Semi-untethered exploits – s1guza and tihmstar.

User interface – REALKJCMEMBER.

Other – mbazaliy and qwertyoruiop.

If you have a legacy device kicking around, be sure to jailbreak it using Phoenixpwn. Moreover, the installation process is fairly simple and its UI looks a lot like Home Depot jailbreak.

Herein, I will be demonstrating the Phoenixpwn jailbreak procedure using my iPad mini running 9.3.5.
WHY IS PHOENIXPWN JAILBREAK USEFUL?

This tool is of immense importance as iOS 9.3.5 is the end-of-life firmware for pretty much all 32-bit iOS devices. These devices are now jailbroken for life as we already have a jailbreak for iOS 9.1-9.3.4.

Here’s what you can do with iOS 9.3.5 jailbreak –

Run Cydia tweaks on iOS 9.3.5 (Recommended).

Downgrade to iOS 8 or lower firmware (with proper SHSH Blobs).

Dual-boot different firmware versions on the same 32-bit iOS device using Coolbooter.

These are the applications of this new tool. You can perform any of the above actions using this. You can also downgrade to certain versions without SHSH Blobs.

However, I wouldn’t recommend you downgrade to iOS 8 as app compatibility would be a major issue. This is because iOS 8 is now considered as “legacy” and hardly any app supports it.

As far as the stability on iOS 9.3.5 is concerned, it runs very smooth on my iPad mini. Therefore, the first option is always recommended.

HOW TO JAILBREAK IPHONE, IPAD, IPOD ON IOS 9.3.5 WITH PHOENIXPWN
WITHOUT COMPUTER (NO PC)

Step 1 Open Safari browser.

Step 2 Go to this web address – ayouch.me/phoenix. It already has the iOS 9.3.5 jailbreak file loaded into the webpage itself.

Step 3 When you get to this screen, press the install button.

Step 4 Wait for it to install. Once it’s done, go to General > Device Management and verify its developer profile.

Step 5 Proceed with the tutorial given below beginning from Step 10.
WITH COMPUTER

Step 1 Download the Phoenixpwn IPA file from the download links given above. The IPA file has a size of 47.2 MB.

I have also uploaded the file to Mega.nz just in case the original download link goes down. I also recommend you put in on your desktop to make the process easier.

Step 2 Download Cydia Impactor utility from the link given above if you haven’t already. Open the ZIP archive and unpack its contents to any location or folder.

Step 3 You are all set now and everything is in place. Now you just need to connect your iOS device to the computer and start the actual jailbreak process.

Step 4 Wait for Cydia Impactor to recognize your device. It will do so almost instantly but if it doesn’t try changing USB slots.

Step 5 Now drag and drop the Phoenix.ipa file over to the Cydia Impactor window.

Step 6 Impactor will now ask you to enter your Apple ID username and password. You can safely enter your credentials here as they are only sent to Apple’s servers.

However, if you are a bit too paranoid about your privacy, you can also create another “burner” Apple ID and use that.

Step 7 Wait for the IPA file to be installed and let Impactor do its thing. Once it says “Complete” as shown below, you can safely disconnect your device from the computer.

Step 8 Phoenix jailbreak app will now be present on your home screen. However, if you open it, it will throw the Untrusted Developer error. To fix this, open the Settings app and navigate to General > Device Management on your device.

Step 9 Select your Apple ID email, tap Verify app and press Verify again to confirm. Wait for it to be verified.

Step 10 Run the Phoenixpwn app and tap on Prepare For Jailbreak.

Step 11 It will now prompt you to download the Mixtape Player. You can download it using the Download Free Mixtape Now button or you can tap the Proceed with Jailbreak button to continue installing Cydia.

Step 12 Phoenixpwn will now begin patching the kernel, filesystem and installing the exploit. It will also enable the tfp0 patch on your device. Just be patient and wait for it to complete.

Step 13 It will now perform a check to ensure your device is supported. Once you get to this screen, tap Use Provided Offsets.

There’s no need to use the Specify Custom Offsets feature as all the offsets are built into the app.

Step 14 Wait for your device to respring. Once it’s done, Cydia will not be present on your home screen. Also read:usb bootable software

Step 15 Go ahead and start installing your favorite Cydia tweaks! That’s all there’s to it. Hope you enjoyed this tutorial.

If you do happen to run into some issues, just leave a comment below.
HOW TO REJAILBREAK YOUR DEVICE WITH PHOENIXPWN
AFTER REBOOTING

As you already know, Phoenixpwn jailbreak is semi-untethered. This means as soon as you reboot your device, you will need to jailbreak it again.

To do this, simply launch the Phoenix jailbreak application and select the Kickstart Jailbreak option. That’s it.

This will again put your device in jailbreak mode.
AFTER 7 DAYS

After every seven days, the app will expire. As soon as you open it, it will start throwing the “Untrusted Developer” error.

You must then reinstall and sideload it with Cydia Impactor using the in-depth tutorial given above.

The 7-day limit exists only on free accounts, not paid accounts. If you are using a developer account, the app will remain signed for a period of one year.

I know this process looks cumbersome at the very outset. But once you get the hang of it, it seems very easy. For those who don’t have access to a computer all the time, wait for an ext3nder-like solution for your firmware.

Here’s an update – once the app runs out of signing, simply use ayouch.me/phoenix to install it again.
HOW TO SAFELY UPGRADE TO NEW VERSIONS

Developer tihmstar has already stated that using the v2 directly after v1 will not fix the gsc error. Although we now have a second version, it requires some manual work before we can get it working properly with all the fixes.
VERSION 1 TO VERSION 2

Here’s how you can safely upgrade from version one to version two.

Step 1 Download Mterminal from BigBoss Cydia repo.

Step 2 Enter the following commands step by step and press return key after each line. type

su

alpine (this is your default password)

rm /usr/bin/sed && /usr/libexec/cydia/firmware.sh

Step 3 Once this is done, execute the “restart” command –

reboot

Step 4 Once your device restarts, kickstart the jailbreak using the rejailbreak procedure given above using v2. That’s it.

You can also clean restore your device and jailbreak from scratch with Phoenixpwn 2.0. No matter which method you choose, just don’t forget to update.
VERSION 2 TO VERSION 3

Version 3 is actually a minor update but it’s still good to stay on the latest version. The updating process is really simple.

Just sideload v3 IPA file using the tutorial given above. Doing this will automatically replace v2. You don’t even need to trust its developer certificate again.
DID YOU JAILBREAK IOS 9.3.5?

This will surely bring back your legacy device back to life. I don’t know about you but I still use my iPad mini and it feels good to know it won’t be gathering dust anymore.

I am off to install my favorite Cydia tweaks! But what do you intend to do with your older device? Let us know in the comments section below. Also read:limetorrents

Detailed macOS 10.15 Features Leak: New System Apps, iPad Apps for Mac, Siri Shortcuts

WWDC is less than a month away. You know what that means. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman’s leak of every prominent feature we’re going to see at the keynote. We’ve already outlined the biggest iOS 13 and watchOS 6 leaks in our previous post. Now let’s break down the leaks specific to the next macOS release.
macOS 10.15 Features
Apple’s iPad Apps on Mac

Looks like the years of cursing iTunes on Twitter is finally going to pay off. Apple is planning to bring a standalone Music app for the Mac. The report doesn’t detail if it’s going to be a port of the iPad app or something that’s written from scratch for the Mac.

Thanks to Apple’s new Marzipan technology (which is going to play a huge role in Apple software development in the future), Apple will be able to bring more of its iPad apps to the Mac. Last year, it was apps like Voice Memos and Apple News.

This time, Apple is slated to bring the Podcasts the new app that merges Find my iPhone and Find my Friends.
Everyone’s iPad Apps on Mac

Possibly a lot more exciting notion is the fact that Apple is going to let developers run iPad apps on Mac, with a little tweaking. This means that pro apps designed for iPad (like Affinity Photo) will run smoothly on the Mac without the developer having to invest double the resources.

This is the first step in a larger strategy that will combine software development for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. According to Gurman, Apple eventually plans to merge all three App Stores into one. Each app would only have one installation file, that would work across iOS and macOS devices.

This is a huge goal. And Apple might succeed where Microsoft failed as it’s taking small steps to get there. According to Gurman, iPhone apps will run on the Mac by next year. And the year after that, the installation file for multiple platforms will be merged into a single file.
Screen Time

iOS 12’s Screen Time feature is coming to the Mac. It will let Mac users track how much time they’re spending in each app and will give them tools to limit the time as well.
Effects and Stickers for Messages App

The Messages app in macOS will now support effects (like lasers) and stickers.
Siri Shortcuts App

iOS 12’s Siri Shortcuts system, along with the Shortcuts app will make it to the Mac. The leak doesn’t say how exactly it will work if it will have more features than the iOS version and what it means for the fate of Automator. But we’ll find out soon enough.
New Reminders App

The updated reminders app from iOS 13 will make it to macOS on day one. It comes with better features to help compete with third-party apps.

It features a new UI that will split tasks across four sections: ones which need to be done today, all tasks, scheduled tasks, and flagged tasks.
Upgrades to Apple Books

Apple is adding new user-friendly features to Apple Books apps that will encourage users to read more. It will come with a rewards system and a progress tracker.
Possibly a Hardware Reveal

While WWDC is usually about software, sometimes Apple pulls out hardware from its keynote hat. This time, it might be the new Mac Pro we’ve been waiting for. It might be the new pro-grade external monitor, with a supposed 8K output.
What’s Your macOS 10.15 Wishlist?

What are you waiting to see in the next macOS release? Are you happy with macOS software as it stands right now? Do you think iOS software on macOS will make for better or worse user experience? Share with us in the comments below.

Recovery mode is essential for fixing iOS software issues, and it can also be used in this context of changing forgotten iPhone passcodes. Below is how this works:

Attach your iPhone to a PC or Mac via a reliable lightning cable and run iTunes.

Put your device into recovery mode following the instructions:

On an iPhone X/iPhone 8 or later: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then, press and hold the Side button.

On an iPhone 7/7 Plus: Press and hold both the Side and Volume Down buttons simultaneously.

On an iPhone 6s and earlier: Press and hold both the Home and the Top (or Side) buttons at the same time.

Once the recovery mode screen appears, release the held buttons.

Your device will restart as a new one, you can set a new passcode on it to guard its security.
2 Change Passcode on iPhone with iCloud Find My iPhone

If your iPhone meets iCloud requirements, you can erase and reset it with iCloud to remove the forgotten passcode.

Steps:

On your computer, visit iCloud.com/find and log in with your Apple ID credentials.

Click on All Devices located at the top of the page.

Select the relevant device that you wish to work on.

Click “Erase iPhone” and confirm the operation.

After the process is complete, your iPhone will reboot as a brand new device. Set it up with a new passcode.

At the point in which you should restore from a backup, click Restore from iCloud Backup, and then choose the most recent backup.
4Change Your Forgotten Passcode on iPhone with iTunes

If you have synced your phone with iTunes in the past and you have Find My iPhone turned on, then you have an extra option of changing your iPhone passcode via iTunes. Here is how to do this:

Step 1: Connect your iPhone to the computer you synced it on via a USB cable. Keep your phone connected throughout this operation.

Step 2: If your phone or computer prompts you for a passcode, and you can’t remember it, make sure you are using the computer you synced on previously. If it is, you can put your phone in Recovery mode to skip that.

Step 3: iTunes will go on to sync and backup your phone.

Step 4: On your computer screen, located on the top-left hand side should be the icon of your device. Click this icon to bring up your device information.

Step 5: On the Summary tab, click “Restore iPhone”.

After the restore operation, your phone will be entirely blank. You can then set up the device and restore your data when you are prompted.

On earlier iPhone models: Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode.

On devices without Touch ID: Go to Settings > Passcode.

Input your current passcode to access settings.

Scroll down to see “Change Passode” and tap on it.

Enter the old passcode to be able to change a new one.

Enter a new passcode and then confirm it to complete the process.
Bonus Tip: Never Forget to Backup

It’s great that you now know how to change passcode on iPhone if forgotten. Now, equally as important are some things you should bear in mind about preventing this incident, minimizing data loss, and securing your phone.

Always Backup Your Device:

Back up your phone from time to time, so that if you ever have to wipe your phone, you would have a recent back up; hence, you will not lose much data if at all.

Always Update iOS:

Software updates are necessary for many reasons - to fix a bug, implement additional features, improve the efficiency, and so forth. Always try to use the latest iOS that is available for your device.

Always Use an Easy-to-Remember, Strong Passcode:

Your passcode should be complex. There are many useful guidelines for creating a strong passcode, but ensure that this passcode is hard to forget.
Conclusion

Getting locked out of your iPhone is sad. If you ever find yourself in such situation, previously, you would have panicked and consulted all the nearby Apple shops and phone repairers. But now, with the help of this article, you are now fully equipped to handle it all by yourself.

Can I Back Up iPhone to iCloud on Computer

1. Can I Back Up iPhone to iCloud on Computer?

Well, the answer is no, because unfortunately there isn't a function which empowers you to back up your iPhone straight to iCloud on computer. At first, it may seem like there's an option to do so, but there categorically isn't. You see, users will go through the typical method of connecting their device to their computer, opening up iTunes and trying to select iCloud as the destination.

However, once you try to progress through the procedure, you'll quickly realize that it just isn't possible. When you hit 'Back Up Now', it will send all of your data to your computer, instead of sending it to iCloud like you desired. And you just cannot back up your important data on iPhone to iCloud on computer!

Believe us, we know how frustrating it can be, but there are alternative routes that you can take to back up your iPhone to cloud storage.
2. Other Options to Backup iPhone to Cloud on Computer

So, if you want to use cloud storage on your computer, but are infuriated at the inability to use iCloud, then you can always use a different cloud service. There is abundance of them these days, and they all offer pretty much the same thing, in slightly different ways. The finest pick of the bunch is going to be the likes of Dropbox, OneDrive and Amazon Cloud Drive.

However, there's plenty of downsides to those too. Generally, they will offer you very limited storage space, which isn't beneficial if you need to backup your iPhone. Secondly, the process of using them to back up your iPhone is very complicated, which may cost you a lot of time. Oh, and if you do manage to back it up, they don't offer the chance to view the data.

Therefore, why not try an even better method?

6 Tips to Fix iTunes Error 2

Tip 1. Temporarily Disable Security Software

Tip 2. Run iTunes Using Administrator Account

Tip 3. Install Apple Application Support Separately

Tip 4. Update Windows

Tip 5. Reinstall iTunes Completely

Tip 6. Use iTunes Alternative
1. Temporarily Disable Security Software

Sometimes, especially if you are using Windows, the Security Software you're using may prevent iTunes from communicating with Apple Servers and hence fail to update as required. Therefore, try disabling the Security software you are using before trying again. If the software is disabled, and you are still experiencing problems, try our second solution.

2. Run iTunes Using Administrator Account

Another way to get around this error is to run iTunes using an Administrator account. First of all, make sure that you have log in to the account that is administrator. Find iTunes icon on the desktop or find it using the search feature. Then right click iTunes icon, and there will be the option "Run as administrator". Check if you are able to update iTunes now.

3. Install Apple Application Support Separately

The iTunes error 2 is often related to Apple Application Support that fails to be installed. You can try a standalone Apple Application Support install and see if it works. Here's how to do it.

Step 1: Go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and download iTunesSetup.exe installer file to your hard drive.

Step 2: Check if you have installed WinRAR. If not, just download and install it on your computer.

Step 3: Right-click on iTunesSetup.exe and choose "Extract iTunesSetup". WinRAR will expand the contents in a folder marked "iTunesSetup."

Step 4: In the folder, find and click on AppleApplicationSupport.msi to execute a standalone AAS install. Once the process is complete, iTunes will launch properly.
4. Update Windows

Sometimes the process of installing iTunes may be affected by outdated Windows OS. It may therefore be worth updating Windows before attempting to install iTunes. Here's how to do it.

Step 1: Connect your computer to the internet and then click on the "Start Menu".

Step 2: Click on "Control Panel"=> All Control Panel Items=> Windows Update.

Step 3: Click "Check for Updates". If there are updates available, click on "Install Updates" and then wait for the process to be completed. It may take a while depending on the size of updates.

5. Reinstall iTunes Completely

If none of the above solutions work for you, it maybe that iTunes itself is corrupt. In this case, you want to uninstall iTunes and all its related software components before reinstalling it. Here's how to do it.

Step 1: In the Control Panel, uninstall iTunes and its related components in the following order:

iTunes

Apple Software Update

Apple Mobile Device Support

Bonjour

Apple Application Support 32-Bit

Apple Application Support 64- Bit

Step 2: Make sure that all iTunes components have been uninstalled. There may be some left over files that you want to remove.

Press the Windows and R Key on your Keyboard and type %programfiles% in the run window. Click "OK" and delete the following folders if they exist;

iTunes

Bonjour

iPod

Next, Open the Common Files Folder and the Apple Folder and delete the following files if they exist;

Mobile Device Support

Apple Application Support

CoreFP

Step 3: If you are running 32-Bit version of Windows, Right-click on the Recycle Bin and select Empty Recycle Bin.

If you are using 42-bit version, open the Program Files on your Hard Disk and delete the following files;

iTunes

Bonjour

iPod

Mobile Device Support

Apple Application Support

CoreFP

Step 4: After all iTunes components have been deleted from your computer, restart the computer and download and install iTunes on your computer.
